About Us

The George Mason University Office of Media and Public Relations represents and promotes the university and its faculty, students, and programs to a variety of internal and external audiences. The office serves as a liaison between news media reporters and Mason representatives.

The professional staff is prepared to assist and advise all members of the university community. Some of the services we provide include:

Faculty Experts Guide: Our office maintains an online media guide of Mason faculty experts, designed to assist reporters looking for comment on issues in the news. We proactively establish relationships and reach out to reporters to ensure their familiarity with university experts and resources.

Publicity: Office of media relations staff members work daily with a variety of media outlets on the local, state and national levels to publicize all aspects of the university. Staff members prepare press releases, fact sheets, media advisories, opinion editorials and other materials to publicize university news. This also includes highlighting research being conducted by Mason professors. Our office disseminates news from all three campuses including programs, research, initiatives and events.

We encourage faculty and staff members to contact us with story ideas, to keep us informed of current research and to seek our assistance in responding to media inquiries.
